HDFC Bank: Customer service? What the heck is that?

Last week I had a very bad experience with HDFC bank and I was disappointed with the worst and poor service. The so called bank took 4 days to credit my local cheque.

Here is the story…

One of my cheque (given to SRIRAM Finance) comes to HDFC on 8th of every month. Since my salary account was transfered from HDFC to Deutsche Bank, there was no fund on my HDFC a/c. So I decided to deposit some amount in my HDFC a/c and presented a ICICI (Cenotaph Road) cheque in the Kodampakkam HDFC ATM on 4th Oct, evening (now I think that was the most useless thing which I ever did).

Usually the other banks would take 1 day to credit your account against the local cheque. But in this stupid HDFC, It took 4 days and finally my account was credited on 8th Oct, sometime in the evening. Meantime the cheque which I gave it to SRIRAM presented to HDFC in the morning and the next moment it was returned by giving the reason “Insufficient Fund”. Also HDFC bank charged me Rs.350/- towards the Cheque return charges.

When I check my account status online, I found that HDFC had considered my cheque which was presented in ATM on 6th, Oct and the same has been updated in my account and was credited my account on 8th. Because of this stupid and slow operating process, I lost my loyalty with SRIRAM and I was asked to pay EMI by cash with the fine of Rs. 250/-.

Here is the transaction details,

I called the HDFC customer care (most of the time you will get disconnected while waiting on the line) and complaint about my issue. The customer care executive didn’t even care about my complaint and kept on repeating there bank policy like a parrot. I wanted to talk to the Customer Care Manager. I was denied twice and finally one lady came on line and introduced herself as a Manager and acted like a parrot ;-). I didn’t want to get tensed by talking about this and I left out.

The story was not ended. After 10 days, my account was again debited Rs. 43.26 towards the service charge for the Cheque return charges. I do not know how much still I need to pay for their laziness and the stupid system.

Finally I decided to end up the relationship with HDFC. Do not want to deal with the bank which does not know how to treat the customers.

    I agree. I belive that HDFC bank is one of the lousiest banks in India. I have dealt with public sector banks but nothing as bad and incompetent as this. I guess they have grown too fast. I have six bank accounts in HDFC and I swear today that I will close each and every one of them.

    I wish them the worst.

    Iam present four wheeler auto loan holder of HDFC BANK.My Loan No is 13474569.in the month of feb-2009 installment my cheque was bounced due to insuffuceient fund in my ICICI Bank acount on date 07.02.09 due to delay in my deposit transantion in icici bank.the cheque NO is 200397 date 06.02.2009 of icici bank cheque against my auto Loan.I recieved sms from HDFC Bank to pay the instalment and visited the nearest branch gandhidham dist kutch gujarat and deposited feb-09 installment by cash on date 17.02.09 Reciept No is 14834265.But when i checked my icici bank statement on date 09.03.09 hdfc bank withdrawn the amount 6300/- against my cheque No 200397 on date 20.02.09 which i have allready paid cash.how it is possible to withdrawn amount twice for one installment.Now my home loan cheque of icici bank on dated 01.03.09 was bounced due to insufficient fund in my acount because of hdfc withdrawn amount against my cheque 200397.
    so i i have to pay penalty for icici home loan.so request to solve my problem and still i have not recieved any amount from hdfc bank .

    one day I had gone your okhla phase-1 { near c.lal chowk} branch for deposit cash in my salary a/c but your
    bank person refuse deposit the cash in my salary a/c.

  7. Lucky man . they took 4 days to clear ur cheque . my friend my cheque was deposited on 23 october 2009 , of around 3.5 lacs . today while i was reading stuff on hdfc bank on 3rd november 2009 i.e after 10 days it has not been credited .

    Seems , when bad luck strike , it sends u to HDFC .

  8. you are right…If you call the customer care and shout with them, the money will be credited to the account immediately. I don’t know what magic they will do…

    I have applied personal loan for the amount of 80000 to 100000. My salary is 20800/-. After processing completed they told that 46000 only sanctioned for you. Also they told that yoe are required to start PA insurance if it is one lakh amount.

    Then Due to my urgent need i have accepted. They told that 2.5 % Processing fee.

    After 15 days i got cheque for the amount of 43600/-
    In that they have mentioned
    PA Insurance 350/-
    Transaction fee paid to the bank 850/-
    Tax 20/-
    Processing fee 1150/-
    After recieved my cheque i can’t say i don’t want thgis loan because i have signed agreement.

    Now i am calling this ediotic stupid HDFC bank lady who is manager Stupid Kiruba 50 times. this stupid ediotic lady is not pick up the phone.

    The problem is they doesn’t inform about these charges.

    Not only this, the interest is 18600/- for 46000/- principle amount.

    I could say this interest and charges are more than kanthu vatti.
    So i request my dear people don’t get relationship with this stupid HDFC bank and their agency.

  10. I think it is better bang the indiviidual employees of Govt banks and make those banks better. then rot in much worse hell of private banks where you donot even know if the person talking to you is a responsible employee of bank or not.

    Why you taken the loan (your are in urge)before taking your loan, are you not asking any questions to her.. don’t blame any body if we are not aware of it.. if you can’t understand the bank term’s pls take kanduvaddi and don’t use harsh world (like stupid) is this nice for gentleman working in CSS
